According to him, it was decided to increase the survivability of armored vehicles, taking into account the experience of the special operation in Ukraine. Now for the combat vehicles T-72B, T-72B3, T-80 and the latest T-90M "Proryv" additional protection sections are supplied in accordance with the developed and tested armor schemes.

“This allows the repair battalions, guided by the relevant operationally developed recommendations, to mount additional protection against anti-tank ammunition on tanks directly in the front line units, making it virtually all-aspect,” the agency’s interlocutor explained. Thanks to these kits, armored vehicles are able to withstand the impact of an armor-piercing feathered sub-caliber projectile (BOPS) in a side projection.

On January 14, it became known that Russian troops used the latest modernized tank T-90M "Breakthrough" during a special operation in the Kherson direction. It is noted that the combat vehicles hit the targets at the set coordinates. The tank commander called the T-90M a reliable and comfortable vehicle. He added that the tank has been improved and the crew is well protected. “Our T-90 was blown up by an anti-tank mine, the caterpillar was not damaged, only the roller was torn off, and it left the combat zone under its own power, the entire crew was intact,” he said.

Earlier, the Rostec state corporation assured that the Russian Kornet anti-tank missile systems (ATGM), the Whirlwind and Ataka aircraft missiles would be able to effectively hit Leopard 2 tanks. One of the reasons for this vulnerability, engineers called the lack of a German vehicle dynamic protection.
