Tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) are suitable for the destruction of transport hubs, accumulations of infantry and equipment. Military expert Alexei Sukonkin spoke about the capabilities of the weapon in an interview with News.ru.

According to him, the yield of a tactical nuclear weapon is 200-300 tons of TNT. The analyst noted that such weapons are suitable for destroying a tank company on the march, large concentrations of infantry with military equipment, bridges and transport hubs.

“And do not forget about the psychological factor - if the enemy knows that a TNW charge can fly over him. If an operational tactical missile system can destroy 350 people and 40 pieces of equipment with just two missiles, then imagine what tactical nuclear weapons are capable of,” Sukonkin said.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center - All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics Vyacheslav Solovyov said that, if necessary, the Novaya Zemlya nuclear test site is ready to resume nuclear testing.
