MiG-29UPG and Su-30MKI open Aero India 2023 flight program

The Su-30MKI and MiG-29UPG fighters of the Indian Air Force (Air Force) opened the flight program of the international aerospace exhibition Aero India 2023 at the Yelahanka airbase in Bangalore. It is reported by TASS.

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of the Rostec state corporation) noted that these aircraft form the basis of the Indian Air Force fleet. Su-30MKI fighters were produced in India under license.

The Indian light fighter Tejas, which became the symbol of the exhibition, was also shown at the event. This aircraft remains the only fighter aircraft designed and manufactured in India.

The Su-30MKI is the Indian version of the Su-30MK. The double fighter received thrust vectoring engines, new on-board equipment and an expanded armament. The MiG-29UPG upgraded for the Indian Air Force also received new equipment, including the Thales navigation system and the Elbit helmet-mounted target designation system.

In September, Military Watch named the Su-30MKI, which entered service with the Indian Air Force in 2002, the best fighter in South Asia. The aircraft can engage air, ground and sea targets.
