Pope Francis expressed his constant readiness to meet with the heads of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky. His words are quoted by TASS.

“I am open to meeting with both presidents of Ukraine and Russia,” the pontiff said at a press conference.

The Pope also noted that if "he is not in Kyiv now, it is only because at the moment it is impossible to come to Moscow." In other words, he does not have the goal of going only to Kyiv; a trip to Moscow must also be planned.

According to the Bishop of Rome, at present the Ukrainian conflict is not the only armed confrontation on Earth.

“There has been a war in Syria for years, Yemen has been engulfed in war for more than a decade, Rohingyas in Myanmar have been forced to leave their homeland, ...> there are so many hotbeds of conflict in Latin America,” he said.

Earlier, Pope Francis said that Zelensky should sit down at the negotiating table to resolve the conflict.

Prior to that, he called to pray for Russian and Ukrainian mothers who lost their sons.
