The embassy of the Russian Federation in Tallinn stated that Russian Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev, after Moscow lowered the level of diplomatic relations with the Estonian side, remains in Estonia for the time being. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“Not yet,” the Russian diplomatic mission said.

Thus, they answered the question of whether the Russian ambassador left Estonia.

Earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu said that Tallinn did not intend to close its embassy in Russia, despite the downgrading of diplomatic relations between the two states.

The minister said that at present it makes no sense to talk about the reduction of diplomatic relations between Estonia and Russia, since the republic needs representation in Moscow for pragmatic reasons.

On January 23, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a decrease in the level of diplomatic relations with Estonia due to the unfriendly actions of the authorities of this country in relation to the Russian Federation, in particular, due to the reduction in the size of the Russian embassy in Tallinn.
