The prosecutor's office has appealed the verdict against the former mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) in a criminal case on discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which comes into force on June 6.

However, at 10.15 am, information appeared on the website of the court that, despite the complaint, the verdict nevertheless entered into force.

“06/06/2023, the prosecutor of the department of public prosecutors of the criminal-judicial department of the prosecutor’s office of the Sverdlovsk region, Sokolov D.S. the appeal was withdrawn. The verdict has entered into force," the statement said.

On May 19, 2023, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found Roizman guilty and fined 260,000 rubles. on the case of discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the prosecutor's office requested a fine of 280 thousand rubles. According to investigators, on a stream in July 2022, speaking about the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the politician uttered the words “war” and “invasion”.
