A court in Yerevan has re-arrested the mother of the deceased soldier Gayane Hakobyan, accused of kidnapping the son of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Armenpress reports.

“The court, after hearing the opinion of the participants in the process, decided to replace house arrest with detention for a period of 1 month and 15 days,” the judge said.

Earlier, the son of the Armenian prime minister, Ashot Pashinyan, said that he voluntarily got into the car of the mother of Gayane Hakobyan, a soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces who died in the Second Karabakh War, who attempted to kidnap him.

On May 17, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced the receipt of a statement from Pashinyan's son Ashot about an attempt to kidnap him.

It was reported that while part of the Armenian media accused Hakobyan of having forced Ashot into the car with her accomplices, NGOs claimed that the young man got into the car himself.

It is known that the prime minister's son managed to jump out of the car on the move, as a result of which he suffered a leg injury, and the kidnappers fled.
