The head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, the leader of the LDPR faction, Leonid Slutsky, proposed to recognize the conscripts who participated in the defense of the Belgorod region as participants in the hostilities. Slutsky wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

He turned to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, noting that the Liberal Democratic Party began to work out an appropriate legal mechanism.

“We need joint operational action on this issue. So that the conscripts who beat the enemy in the Belgorod region were recognized as participants in the hostilities and received all the payments due under the law, ”Slutsky suggested.

The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party emphasized that the conscripts who defended the Russian region proved to be heroes who deserve the highest awards.

Earlier, the governor of the Belgorod region reported that one of the energy facilities caught fire in the Belgorod region.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
