President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky once again declared the country's readiness for a counteroffensive in order to receive new arms supplies from the West. This is how Aleksey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, reacted to the words of the head of state in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

Another blackmail. We've been hearing about this for two and a half months now. Another step to negotiate with the West for the supply of another batch of weapons, nothing more

“Weaker and weaker, Ukraine has fewer opportunities for a counteroffensive. The only thing they are capable of is the terrorist acts that they are trying to do,” the deputy said.

Ukrainian counteroffensive

On June 3, President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were ready to launch a counteroffensive.

“We firmly believe that we will succeed. I don't know how long it will take us. To be honest, it could go different, completely different. But we are going to do it, and we are ready for it,” the Ukrainian leader said.

He added that he would like to receive more weapons before the start, but, according to him, Kyiv can no longer wait.

Ukrainian politicians, including the head of state, have repeatedly declared in recent months that they are ready to launch a counteroffensive. The start of active hostilities has long been awaited by the countries of the West.

On May 30, Zelensky approved the dates for the start of the military campaign. According to him, the Ukrainian leadership has already decided how and when the Ukrainian units will move on.

On May 25, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak, on the air of the Rai 1 TV channel, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had already launched a counteroffensive against the Russian military. He noted that Ukrainian soldiers are conducting separate operations.
