Yuri Shvytkin, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said that the United States could consider the option of territorial concessions in favor of the Russian side as a backup plan for the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. It is reported by URA.RU.

The parliamentarian believes that the West is not worried about the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and the fact that Russian troops are moving across the territory of a neighboring state and “would conditionally take Kherson, Odessa, Nikolaev” is of little importance.

“They act according to their predetermined scenario. They are doing everything they can to destroy Russia,” Shvytkin says.

The main goals of Washington, according to Shvytkin, are the weakening of Russia and the destruction of the maximum number of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, US Deputy Secretary of State for Energy, former US Ambassador to Ukraine and Greece Geoffrey Pyatt said that Ukraine and the allies of this country should already prepare its energy system for the next cold season.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
