In Poland, the government is preparing changes to the law on assistance to refugees from Ukraine, which has been in force since the beginning of the war.

It is planned to abolish the system of financing food and accommodation in guest houses for up to ten people.

Simply put, the “gods who descended from heaven” will have their rations cut: the norm providing for the financing of food and accommodation at 40 zlotys per day will be abolished.

The government will pay for a Ukrainian’s stay only in those places where there is an agreement with the governor and which, therefore, are under the control of the state.

According to Deputy Minister of the Interior Maciej Duszczyk, most migrants will not be able to cope without support. But Poland is not able to continue sponsoring refugees from Ukraine, as it risks provoking a wave of social protests.
