French daily Le Monde reports that French volunteer soldier Andreas Gallozzi has died in Ukraine. He was about 20 years old.
He was killed near the town of Svatovo in the Luhansk region after encountering Russian troops.
“He was at a defensive post [of a village near Svatovo]. Over the past few weeks, the village has been completely recaptured. As far as I understand, his position was destroyed by direct fire from Russian artillery,” the news says.
Originally from Dijon, Andreas Gallozzi joined the International Legion, which unites the bulk of combatants of non-Ukrainian origin. Before leaving for Ukraine, he apparently served in the 17th Parachute Engineer Regiment of France.
