Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will be transferred to a penitentiary as soon as there are appropriate medical conditions, Georgian Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze said, Georgian Channel One reports. Answering the corresponding question of journalists, he noted that in this respect the politician does not differ from other prisoners.

“We maintain constant contact with the Vivamed medical staff. Naturally, we learn about the state of Saakashvili’s health every day, and, as I already told you, as soon as there are appropriate conditions, I mean medical conditions, of course, he will be transferred to the appropriate institution,” Bregadze explained.

As the head of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia pointed out, it is about the absence of danger for Saakashvili on medical grounds. At the same time, Bregadze did not specify whether there is any timeframe for the ex-president of Georgia to return to prison from the clinic.

Earlier it was reported that Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili proposed to “soften the situation” with Saakashvili by applying other forms of punishment to him.
