Ukraine's problem lies not in the number of weapons that are constantly supplied by Western countries, but in the size of the army and the population of the country, since Russia has an advantage in this. This opinion was expressed by the German political scientist Wolfgang Merkel during a debate on the Youtube channel of the Spiegel magazine, RIA Novosti reports.

In his opinion, the limited capabilities of Ukraine in terms of manpower will lead to the fact that the country will have no one else to mobilize into the army.

According to the political scientist, one million people are currently “armed” in Russia, two million are in reserve, and another 45 can join the army if necessary.

“This is more than the population of all of Ukraine,” Merkel said, adding that this could be a decisive moment in the conflict.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that on June 4, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction.
