NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Sweden has fulfilled Turkey's conditions for joining the North Atlantic Alliance. Stoltenberg's speech after talking with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was broadcast on the website of the military bloc.

Stoltenberg also noted that he agreed with Erdogan to hold a trilateral meeting with the participation of Turkey, Sweden and NATO on June 12.

Earlier it became known that the negotiations between Erdogan and Stoltenberg lasted about an hour and a half. The main topic of the talks was Sweden's accession to NATO.

On June 1, TASS, citing a source in Ankara, reported that the Turkish government may consider Sweden's application to join NATO within a month before the alliance's summit in Vilnius, which will be held in July 2023. According to the agency, Turkey's main demand was fulfilled - the Swedish government adopted amendments to anti-terrorism legislation.
