Kyiv must join NATO without a membership action plan and calls on the alliance to abandon it. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called for this during a press conference with the head of the Estonian diplomatic department Margus Tsahkna, RIA Novosti reports.

“We believe that the membership action plan should no longer be considered an element on the path to membership. This is a mechanism that has become obsolete and should not be applied to Ukraine,” he said.

According to Kuleba, Kiev understands that Ukraine is not a NATO member and cannot dictate decisions to the alliance, however, not being a NATO member, it has every right to fight for Euro-Atlantic security.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry addressed the foreign ministers of the NATO member states. Kuleba urged to provide security guarantees on the way of the country's entry into the alliance. In addition, he added that at the July summit of the alliance in Vilnius, it is necessary to strengthen the institutional ties between Kyiv and NATO.
