Kyiv needs to receive 50 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) from Western countries. The number of systems requested from the allies, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky revealed in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“Ukraine needs 50 Patriot batteries. This is currently the only complex that can "turn off" some types of Russian missiles," the Ukrainian leader said, adding that air defense systems are also needed for a counteroffensive.

According to him, to date, Kyiv has received two Patriot batteries, in total, they promised to transfer five batteries to Ukraine.

Earlier, Zelensky complained that Kyiv cannot receive not only the required number of Patriot air defense systems, but also missiles for them, as it is in line for delivery. According to him, the European coalition for the transfer of Patriot systems to Ukraine is at the initial stage of formation.
