Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on his Twitter account that he had discussed the expansion of the NATO bloc with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto.

“We met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland. We discussed the expansion of NATO,” the Turkish minister said.

Cavusoglu did not give any other details.

In the publication, he also expressed gratitude for the support after the devastating earthquakes that took place in Turkey in February.

Earlier it became known that on March 17, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara. He is scheduled to discuss Turkey's ratification of Helsinki's application for NATO membership.

So far, 28 out of 30 NATO members have ratified the accession of Finland and Sweden to the North Atlantic Alliance. Only Hungary and Turkey have not yet done so.
