Romanian MEP Maria Grapini addressed the European Commission with theses stating that grains entering the EU from Ukraine do not meet European quality standards, which negatively affects the economies of the association countries. RT got acquainted with the document. The parliamentarian pointed out that this state of affairs has a negative impact on the work of farmers and domestic production in a number of states.

“Romanian grain exports have declined due to the huge volumes of similar products that enter the country from Ukraine and, instead of transiting through Romania, remain in the country at significantly lower prices and lower quality standards than those applicable in the EU ", - said Grapini.

She called for the introduction of sanitary and veterinary checks of Ukrainian agricultural products at the border, "so as not to endanger the health of the EU population."

Earlier, Zoltan Koshkovich, a leading expert at the Center for Fundamental Rights, a Budapest research organization, said that only the cessation of the armed conflict in Ukraine would completely solve the problem of Ukrainian grain supplies. This also applies, in his opinion, to the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the world market.
