The leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, Florian Filippo, expressed the opinion that France is a “pawn” of the United States, which is why it cannot become a mediator in Ukraine. He said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, if France were truly “free”, “Gaullist” and not “subject to the EU and NATO”, then it could play the role of an intermediary between Ukraine and Russia, with which Paris has historical ties.

But today, Filippo noted, France cannot afford the role of an intermediary due to its subordinate position in the international arena, since it is a "pawn of Washington."

Earlier, Filippo said that France needs to leave NATO, because, in his opinion, it is the Alliance and the United States that are pushing Europe into a world war.

Currently, a special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continues in Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced its beginning. According to him, the purpose of military action is to demilitarize the neighboring country and denazify its authorities.
