Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said that Moscow calls on Washington to build pragmatic relations and does not want conflict with the United States. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“As far as we are concerned, we do not want any confrontation between the US and Russia. We stand for building pragmatic relations for the benefit of the Russian and American peoples,” the Russian diplomat said.

According to Antonov, the meeting with Karen Donfried, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, at the American diplomatic service seemed "constructive."

Antonov also said that Russian fighters did not use weapons against the American MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle, which was carrying out a reconnaissance mission over the Black Sea.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said during a briefing that the American MQ-9 drone that fell into the Black Sea was on a reconnaissance mission.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian fighters did not use airborne weapons and did not come into contact with the American unmanned aerial vehicle, which fell into the Black Sea due to sharp maneuvering.
