Ukraine is preparing for military steps to seize the Crimea. This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky, TASS reports.

“There are military steps, we are preparing for them. We are mentally prepared. We are preparing technically, with weapons, reinforcements, the formation of offensive brigades of various categories and nature, we send people for training at the sites of other states, ”he said.

Earlier, Politico, citing its own sources, said that the United States does not want to push Ukraine to seize Crimea. According to the publication, this was made clear by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during an online conversation with a group of experts. The politician believes that a possible attack by Kyiv on the peninsula will mean crossing the "red line" for Russia.

The Secretary of State also added that an attempt to regain control of Crimea could lead to a larger response from the Russian side. At the same time, the US administration emphasizes that the final decision on the start of such an operation will be made in Kyiv, and not in Washington.

In early February, the acting head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Igor Klymenko, announced the creation of assault brigades to seize the Crimea and Donbass. According to him, the basis of the units will be active and former military, as well as border guards and police "with significant combat experience." Resupply will be done by volunteers. The project of the assault brigades was called the "Offensive Guard".
