Ukrainian medical workers massively stopped receiving salaries from the beginning of 2023. Non-payments are reported by Strana.ua, citing several sources in the healthcare sector.

As it became known to the publication, this situation has developed due to a lack of funds in the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU), which did not receive them from the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health, in turn, failed to secure the transfer of funds from the Ministry of Finance.

The journalists had at their disposal a document that the NSZU sent to Ukrainian medical institutions. It says that the situation with delayed wages has developed due to bureaucratic delays.

“NSZU, for its part, submitted to the Ministry of Health, the main manager, all the necessary documents and a draft passport with calculations and justifications (...) in order to further coordinate it with the Ministry of Finance. In the documents, the NSZU took into account the preliminary comments of the Ministry of Finance. To date, the project (...) has not been approved by the Ministry of Finance. As soon as the draft passport is approved by the Ministry of Finance and approved by the Ministry of Health by a relevant order, the NSZU will be able to resume payments, ”the response to doctors says.

Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine could seriously cut salaries and additional remuneration to the military personnel of the Armed Forces due to a budget deficit. First of all, this affected the military, who do not participate in offensive operations.
