The chairman of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus, Ivan Tertel, said that since the beginning of the year, employees of the department have detained more than 10 "traitors" recruited by foreign special services. BelTA reports.

According to him, among the detainees were representatives of law enforcement agencies and civil servants. Their actions, Tertel noted, caused significant damage to national interests.

“The KGB noted a sharp activation of all types of intelligence of the special services of the collective West against the Republic of Belarus. The main focus is recruitment work in relation to persons who have the opportunity to obtain classified information, the recruitment of employees of law enforcement agencies and employees of the state apparatus, ”he said at the tenth session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation.

Earlier, the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Lieutenant-General Alexander Volfovich, said that the West was purposefully escalating the situation near the borders of Belarus.
