The media relations department of the administration of the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhaniya urged local residents not to pay attention to false reports about the possible entry of the republic into Russia. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the leader.

The department indicated that the reason for such messages was the visit of the President of Abkhazia to Moscow. They explained that residents and public organizations that disseminate this information may be held liable for the unfounded accusation of the authorities of undermining the foundations of the constitutional order.

Earlier it was reported that public organizations of Abkhazia spoke out against joining Russia, emphasizing that the issue of the status of the republic is not subject to discussion. “We consider all speculations on the topic of bringing Abkhazia into the Russian Federation, including the statements of some officials, irresponsible and harmful to our relations,” a number of public organizations said in a statement.
