The developer of shells of the Grad and Uragan systems died

Honored Designer of Russia, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR and the Prize of the Government of Russia Anatoly Kapchits died in Tula at the age of 87. Under his leadership, shells were developed for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and heavy flamethrower systems. This was reported by the press service of the research and production association (NPO) "Splav" named after A. N. Ganichev, reports TASS.

"Under his leadership and with his direct participation, a whole range of ammunition for various purposes for multiple rocket launchers "Grad", "Grad-1", "Uragan", "TOS-1", " Fire", "Barrier"," the message says.

In 1959 Kapchits graduated from the Tula Mechanical Institute. In NPO "Splav" he went from engineer to deputy head of department, chief researcher. For the creation of combat units and shells, which increased the effectiveness of the MLRS, in 1983 he was awarded the State Prize of the USSR, and in 1997 he received the title of Honored Designer of Russia. Anatoly Kapchits was the author of more than 40 patents and inventions, as well as the author and co-author of more than 150 scientific papers.
