At the site of the Technopark of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), tests of the first unmanned tiltrotor with a smart wing began. This was reported in the press service of the NTI Project Support Fund, RIA Novosti reports.

“Bench tests of the Vezdelet project, an experimental vehicle capable of carrying up to 50 kilograms of cargo, have started,” said Mikhail Lipatov, general director of the manufacturing company M-Industries.

According to him, during the tests, the automatic control system will be worked out, as well as the takeoff and landing of the Russian drone in autonomous mode. Lipatov noted that they plan to create a prototype by the summer, and flight tests are scheduled for autumn.

The press service added that the unmanned tiltrotor with vertical takeoff and landing is equipped with an autopilot and a variable geometry wing. This provides an increased level of security. The drone develops a speed of over 100 kilometers per hour and can carry up to 50 kilograms of cargo. The maximum flight time of a drone with a load is at least one and a half hours. The device will receive eight electric propulsion units.

Formerly Head of the Laboratory for External Piloting and Operation of Unmanned Aircraft at the Research Institute of Computing Systems named after M.A. Kartsev Vitaly Dolgov said that mass production of the latest Shershen hexacopters will begin in 2023.
