The Rosoboronexport company is discussing the production of an additional batch of Russian Su-30MKI supersonic fighters in India. The CEO of the company Alexander Mikheev told TASS about this.

“The Su-30MKI is the backbone of Indian fighter aviation. At present, Rosoboronexport is negotiating the production of additional Su-30MKI aircraft in India,” he said at the international aerospace exhibition Aero India 2023.

The Su-30MKI is the Indian version of the Su-30MK two-seat multirole fighter. The prototype aircraft made its first flight in 1997. The Su-30MKI received AL-31FP thrust vectoring engines and new on-board equipment.

Earlier it became known that the Su-30MKI and MiG-29UPG fighters of the Indian Air Force opened the Aero India 2023 flight program. The Indian light fighter Tejas, which became the symbol of the exhibition, was also shown at the event.

In October 2022, Atul Dinkar Rane, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Russian-Indian company BrahMos Aerospace, said that testing of the BrahMos NG rocket could begin in 2024. The new ammunition will be received by Su-30MKI fighters.
