The first launch of the Japanese H3 rocket was postponed from February 15 to February 17 due to weather conditions. This is reported by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.

It is noted that during the launch of H3 should launch the Daichi-3 satellite into low Earth orbit. The launch vehicle should take place from the Tanegashima Space Center in the southwestern Kagoshima Prefecture.

Previously, the launch of rockets was repeatedly postponed.

In June 2017, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced that the launch of the new H3 rocket (in the version without side boosters) would take place in 2020.

In the geotransfer orbit H3 in the maximum configuration will be able to send up to 6.5 tons. The carrier should replace the H-2A rockets (used to launch satellites) and H-2B (involved in launches to the International Space Station). Structurally, the H3 differs from the H-2A in the LE-9 first stage engine, which is an upgraded version of the LE-5B unit in the H-2A second stage.
