Named the timing of the launch of modules of the Russian orbital station

The Scientific and Energy Module (NEM) of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) is planned to be launched in 2027, and four more modules will be sent into orbit in 2028-2030. The Deputy General Designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RKK) Energia (part of the state corporation Roscosmos), Chief Designer of the Roskosmos Vladimir Kozhevnikov named such terms in an interview with TASS.

“At the moment, we plan to launch the first, scientific and energy, module at the end of 2027, the nodal, gateway, basic and target modules - for the period 2028-2030,” he said.

The chief designer noted that the timing of the deployment of the station will be determined based on the results of the preliminary design, which will be completed in 2023. “The work on the NEM, after a pause, has been deployed in full. The draft design of the ROS defines the requirements for its finalization, which will be implemented starting from 2024,” he added. The module is planned to be launched into the orbit of the station using the Angara-A5M rocket.

Kozhevnikov also recalled that they plan to launch the crews at the ROS using a promising transport ship from the Vostochny cosmodrome. This will make it possible to implement the "new station - new ship - new spaceport" strategy.

In September 2022, Rafail Murtazin, head of the ballistics department of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RKK) Energia, announced that the spacecraft flight patterns to the ROS would be short.

Roskosmos presented a prototype of the ROS at the Army-2022 international military-technical forum in August. The state corporation noted that four modules will provide a crew of two people with a total pressurized volume of 228 cubic meters.
