Denis Shulakov, head of the laboratory of natural and man-made seismicity of the Mining Institute of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, named the most seismically hazardous zones in the Urals. He spoke about this during a TASS press conference, reports URA.RU.

According to the specialist, one of the regions most prone to tremors in the Urals were the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as the Perm Territory. The intensity of earthquakes at such points can reach seven points.

“The most seismic zones are the western part of the Sverdlovsk region, the northwest of the Chelyabinsk region, the east of the Perm region,” the expert shared.

In the event of a magnitude 7 earthquake, buildings with weak structures may crack and crumble plaster. However, the collapse of structures in the Urals is not yet worth waiting for, cataclysms of this magnitude occur there once every five thousand years.

Earlier it was reported that as a result of the earthquake in Turkey, the affected region moved about three meters. This happened due to the movement of the lithospheric plates: Anatolian, Arabian, Eurasian and African.
