Robotics and augmented reality will be used at the promising Russian Orbital Station (ROS). The deputy general designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RKK) Energia (part of the state corporation Roscosmos), the chief designer of ROS Vladimir Kozhevnikov, said in an interview with TASS about the receipt of robots.

“In order to facilitate the work of a person in orbit, robotic means will be created on board the ROS, it is planned to use virtual and augmented reality technologies,” he said.

Earlier it became known that the Council of Chief Designers of RSC Energia recommended extending the service life of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) until 2028.

In January, Roskosmos CEO Yuri Borisov announced that the deployment of the Russian orbital station was planned to begin in 2027. ROS is needed to maintain the Russian manned cosmonautics after the end of the ISS operation.

In November 2022, space expert Dmitry Strugovets suggested that Russia's participation in the ISS project until 2028 means that the ROS is unlikely to start before 2030.
