The Washington Post columnist Farid Zakaria stated in his article that after Brexit, the UK has become an "island nation" without any political weight.

According to Zakaria, after the UK's exit from the European Union, the country's economy began to lag behind its competitors in almost all indicators, from business investment to exports and employment.

“The UK has become an average island nation, isolated from the coast of Europe, not having enough weight to have independent significance or set the agenda in its relations with partners,” the observer writes.

He stressed that the British have a feeling that they were deceived. According to the latest opinion poll, the majority of UK residents believe that leaving the EU was a bad idea.

Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that the UK loses $124 billion annually due to the country's exit from the European Union.
