Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the United States "still will have to get rid of the permissiveness syndrome" and "reckon" with Russia and China. The corresponding commentary of the minister was published in the Telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic department.

“The Americans will still have to rebuild on new tracks, getting rid of the permissiveness syndrome. As well as to reckon with Russia and China, other major international players that are shaping a more just multilateral world order,” the publication says.

Ryabkov cited the speech of former US Secretary of State Colin Powell in the UN Security Council about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction as an example of the policy of "permissiveness". The image of Powell, according to him, has long become a "common name" and personifies the hypocrisy of the American authorities and their belief in "impunity" and the right to "teach" the rest of the world.

Earlier, Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko on her Telegram channel called the former US Secretary of State Colin Powell's lie about chemical weapons in Iraq a crime without a statute of limitations at a meeting of the UN Security Council on February 5, 2003, when he showed a test tube with white powder as "proof" of the existence of such weapons.
