The authorities of several Arab and Western countries have decided to close their embassies in Kabul, Al Arabiya TV channel reports, citing its sources.

According to them, the reason for this decision was "threats in the field of security."

Sources of Al Arabiya did not say which states decided to suspend the work of their diplomatic missions in the capital of Afghanistan.

Earlier, the Afghan newspaper Hasht e Subh, citing a source, wrote that the staff of the Saudi Arabian embassy left Afghanistan and returned to the kingdom.

Prior to this, UN Deputy Special Envoy to Afghanistan Markus Potzel said that the West has interests in the republic, including the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking. According to him, therefore, Western countries should return their missions to Kabul.
