British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the government is ready for drastic measures, up to and including withdrawal from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), after reports that some 65,000 illegal migrants may arrive in the country. This is reported by the daily British newspaper The Times.

The article notes that Sunak and British Foreign Secretary Swella Braverman could provide new immigration legislation in a few weeks.

The prime minister allowed Britain to withdraw from the ECtHR if other solutions to the migration crisis do not work.

As indicated in the material, illegal migration in 2023 will grow by 50% compared to last year due to a large number of people seeking to move from Central Asia to Europe.

Earlier, The Sunday Times reported that about 65 thousand illegal migrants could arrive in the UK this year, which will be 45% higher than in 2022.
