According to the Electoral Commission, the turnout in the presidential elections in Cyprus at 12 noon local time (13.00 Moscow time) was 33.7%, 3.5 percentage points more than in the previous presidential elections. It is reported by TASS.

According to the commission, voter turnout is normal, without any problems.

“By 12.00, 33.7% of registered voters had voted, while 30.2% had voted in the same period in the 2018 presidential election,” the publication says.

It is noted that polling stations were closed for a break from 12:00 to 13:00, and voting has now resumed.

Earlier in Cyprus, presidential elections began. More than a thousand polling stations opened at 07:00 local time (08:00 Moscow time).

Residents of Cyprus will choose the president of the country from 14 candidates. The independent candidate Nikos Christodoulidis, Averof Neofitou, a representative of the currently ruling conservative Democratic Assemblage party, and Andreas Mavroyiannis, whose candidacy was supported by the left-wing opposition party AKEL, have the biggest chances of winning.
