US House Defense Committee member Joe Wilson said that US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris should resign after the story of a Chinese balloon flying over the country.

"A Chinese spy balloon has clearly threatened American families from Alaska to my home community in South Carolina and this catastrophic spectacle confirms that President Biden and Vice President Harris must step down," Wilson tweeted.

He believes that "strong leadership is essential to protect American families."

Earlier, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that a Chinese balloon shot down by the US military was used to monitor US strategic facilities.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called the China weather balloon incident a "violation of US sovereignty."

The China weather probe entered the United States identification zone on Jan. 28. On February 4, the United States shot down a "spy balloon" of China, which had been in their airspace for several days.
