Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin told RIA Novosti that Russian diplomats in Denmark are facing manifestations of "open hostility."

Barbin said that diplomatic staff from Russia received threats and insults. In addition, according to him, in Denmark there are cases of vandalism against Russian institutions.

“Russian diplomats in countries unfriendly to the Russian Federation today face manifestations of open hostility on a daily basis, including threats and insults. This happens both in public space and in private. Denmark is no exception in this context,” he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia demanded that the Ambassador of Latvia in Moscow, Maris Riekstins, leave the Russian Federation within two weeks.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
