Russian Ambassador to Copenhagen Vladimir Barbin said in an interview with RIA Novosti that by expanding military support for Ukraine, Denmark is getting deeper and deeper into the conflict.

“Certainly, as military support for the Kyiv regime expands, Denmark is drawn deeper into the conflict,” Barbin said.

He added that there is no basis for improving the development of bilateral relations, as well as dialogue and cooperation between countries, provided that Copenhagen is betting on the defeat of Russia. According to him, today the relations between Russia and Denmark are "thrown back."

Earlier, Barbin said that Danish mercenaries "lit up" in Ukraine.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
