The speaker of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, believes that the topic of “Colin Powell’s test tubes” should be raised again at the UN site. This was reported in the politician's Telegram channel.

According to her, this situation then led to the bombing of Iraq, and such a crime has no statute of limitations.

“I believe it would be right if this story about a monstrous lie that led to a huge tragedy sounded clearly and unambiguously in the near future at the UN, where events began to unfold 20 years ago,” Matvienko says.

On February 5, 2003, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, as evidence of the presence in Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, Colin Powell, who served as the US Secretary of State, showed a test tube with white powder. It allegedly contained samples of chemical weapons found in Iraq. This circumstance, according to the United States, was the basis for military action against Iraq.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, compared the hysteria around the "Russian attack on Ukraine" with "Powell's test tube."
