Fabien Roussel, leader of the French Communist Party, said that a coalition of leftist forces in France had asked the prime minister to hold a debate in the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) on the strategy of arms supplies to Ukraine. This is reported by Le Journal du Dimanche.

In his opinion, it is necessary to recall the initial desire of the French side not to become accomplices in the conflict on the territory of Ukraine.

“That is why my colleague André Chassin and I asked the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Democrats and Republicans of the Left, to organize a debate in the National Assembly on our arms supply strategy,” Roussel said.

He noted that the endless military escalation "provides no certainty but death and devastation."

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said during a press conference following talks with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte that he did not rule out the possibility of supplying aircraft to Kyiv.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
