The Russian embassy in Washington said that the transfer of the assets of Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev to Ukraine shows that the funds of foreign businesses in the United States can be confiscated at any time. It is reported by TASS.

The diplomatic mission emphasized that they had paid attention to the statement by the head of the United States Department of Justice, Merrick Garland, about the transfer of Malofeev's assets to the Ukrainian side. The Russian embassy called this action a "blatant precedent."

“Using various legal tricks and manipulations, the local authorities resorted to outright theft of other people's property for the sake of opportunistic interests,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

According to the embassy, these actions "undermine the investment climate in the United States." This situation shows foreign businessmen that their assets are not protected by US law, they can be confiscated at any time, the diplomatic mission added.

Earlier it became known that the United States announced the transfer to Ukraine of about $ 5.4 million seized from Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev.
