In Germany, the Prime Minister of the federal state of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, said that it is necessary to ensure the safety of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, since this is in the interests of Germany. He said this in an interview for Radio Lausitz.

“The cost of this pipeline is 8 billion euros, and annually through it 50 to 60 million cubic meters of gas can flow to Europe,” Kretschmer said.

The politician added that because of the salty sea water, the damaged Nord Stream gas pipeline "will be irretrievably destroyed." In his opinion, in the future it is necessary to preserve the possibility of resuming relations with Russia in the field of gas supplies.

Kretschmer also called the EU's decision to completely suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia a "big mistake".

Earlier, German Prosecutor General Peter Frank said that Germany did not have evidence of Russia's guilt in the explosions that occurred on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

The emergency at the Nord Stream gas pipelines became known on September 26, 2022: damage and gas leaks were recorded there. Seismologists recorded two explosions. The FSB of Russia opened a case on an act of international terrorism.
