State Secretary of the Cabinet of the Hungarian Prime Minister Csaba Demeter said that the resolution of the European Parliament on the supply of heavy weapons to Kyiv, as well as calls for a complete embargo on Russian energy and nuclear fuel provoke inflation in Europe and an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, reports RIA Novosti.

He said that this week the European Parliament adopted a resolution that contains two "really serious points." In particular, he gave the example of the seventh paragraph on the need to increase and speed up the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The politician suggested that the next step would be the supply of fighter jets and long-range missiles.

“This is anything but a call for peace. It is much more likely to be a big step towards military escalation,” Demeter said.

No less serious, he called paragraph 26, which calls for a complete embargo of fossil fuels and uranium from Russia. Demeter believes that this is a way to support not only further sanctions, but also inflation and rising prices.

The main reason for record inflation is rising energy prices. And this happened because of the sanctions. The announcement of a complete embargo guarantees a further rise in prices. I think this is a very wrong way,” said Demeter, promising that discussions on this topic will take place in the coming weeks.

Earlier, the Hungarian Energy Ministry suggested that the European Union would face fuel shortages due to sanctions.
