WSJ: US may impose sanctions on Chinese companies for cooperation with Iran

The US authorities are studying the possibility of introducing new restrictive measures against a number of Chinese companies, writes The Wall Street Journal, citing sources. According to the publication, we are talking about those firms that cooperate with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

As noted, sanctions pressure, in particular, is being considered against Tiandy Technologies for allegedly supplying the IRGC with surveillance equipment. US officials say Iran is using the equipment to quell women's rights protests that erupted in the country last year.

At the same time, the issue of sanctions is currently being studied both in the US Treasury Department and in the State Department. The WSJ highlights that PRC video surveillance equipment exports to Iran have doubled in 2022.

Earlier, the media reported that the US Senate wants to ban cooperation between Russia and Iran in nuclear energy.
