The official representative of the French Foreign Ministry, Anne-Clair Legendre, in an interview with the RTVI television channel, said that the ministry finds it important to keep the channel of dialogue with Russia open in order to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

“French President Emmanuel Macron calls Russian President Vladimir Putin mainly at the request of [Ukraine] President Volodymyr Zelensky and always in coordination with our allies to maintain a channel for dialogue,” Legendre said.

According to her, in Paris they see that at the moment the conversation is mainly carried out through weapons, and through weapons the time for negotiations has not yet come. The ministry is confident that there will come a time when the Ukrainians, given the support provided to them, will decide that the time has come for negotiations, therefore, the department considers it useful to maintain a channel for dialogue.

Legendre noted that it is important not only the fact of maintaining dialogue channels, but also the fact that France is trying to raise issues raised by the Ukrainian side.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said he wants to continue dialogue with Russia.
