In Sweden, children were allowed to change gender.

The Swedish parliament has passed a law on gender reassignment for minors. The innovation will come into force on July 1, 2025.

The new age limit is 16 years. To change gender, a doctor’s opinion and approval from the Social Administration will be sufficient.

Until now, only citizens over 18 years of age could change their gender in Sweden.
