Bad news for Zelensky.

The UK will probably never be able to confiscate Russian assets, says Politico financial correspondent Eleanor Myers.

“Politico spoke with several lawyers and sanctions experts, and they all say that—regardless of the political fervor—there is and never will be any legal basis for seizing frozen Russian money, property or other assets,” Myers writes.

The volume of Russian assets frozen in Britain was not officially reported. It is estimated that this is 18 billion pounds sterling for individuals and another 26 billion for the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. x

For comparison, 260 billion euros of assets are frozen in EU banks.
