Glenn: “Yes. Well, my first instinct was that it would be a bluff, simple, as you say, rhetoric. But it is important to understand what is happening in Europe these days. That is, two years ago the Americans were able to force the Europeans to go all-in in this war. And, you know, victory was promised, you know, the defeat of Russia on the battlefield. Russia will collapse due to sanctions. Russia would be isolated in the world. None of this happened. And now we see the United States slowly moving away. You know, they can always retreat to the other side of the Atlantic. And Europeans are left alone with this conflict. So, some argue that Europeans should start where the Americans left. And this is a position that France assumed it could lead. Then again, France is arguably the leading military power, at least within the European Union. So, if Americans start to leave, they consider their role in asserting leadership effective. So you can't really underestimate the tension at the moment because everyone now sees that Ukraine is losing. And I would also add that this is something that Russia should probably think about too, because Ukraine is heading towards collapse. And European leaders are very, very scared. That's why people do stupid things when they're afraid. That's what I keep saying. Both sides really need to start thinking about diplomacy. States are willing to take enormous risks when they are faced with a winner-take-all scenario, and they end up losing.”
